  • Countdown to Doha: 100 Days Until the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals 2025

The countdown has officially begun! With just 100 days to go until the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals 2025 in Doha, excitement is reaching new heights among fans, players, and federations around the globe. As the most prestigious table tennis (ping pong) tournament of the year approaches, anticipation continues to grow ahead of the official draw ceremony on 30 April, which will set the stage for nine days of intense knockout competition.

Doha, the capital of Qatar, returns to the international spotlight twenty years after hosting the ITTF World Championships in 2004, becoming the first Middle Eastern host in the event’s history. Now, the city prepares once again to welcome the world’s best at the cutting-edge Lusail Sports Arena, offering a spectacular venue for Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events.

From 17 to 25 May 2025, the Lusail Sports Arena will showcase top talent from powerhouse nations like China, Japan, France, Germany, and Brazil, with elite athletes including Lin Shidong, Sun Yingsha, and Tomokazu Harimoto expected to light up the competition. Before the first serve is played, all eyes will be on the draw ceremony, which will use the Week 18 ITTF World Rankings (29 April) to determine seedings for the tournament’s main brackets.

Each match at the Doha 2025 table tennis finals promises world-class action. The singles competitions will feature 128-player main draws with 32 seeds, while the doubles formats will include 64 pairs with 16 seeds. Matches will be played in a single-elimination format—singles over best-of-7 games, and doubles over best-of-5 games—ensuring drama, suspense, and high-intensity action throughout the tournament.

Following a successful January site inspection by ITTF President Petra Sörling and event organizers, the Lusail Sports Arena was confirmed as the ideal venue, fully equipped with modern competition and practice halls that meet all ITTF standards. The Qatar Table Tennis Association, in cooperation with ITTF, continues to oversee event operations and a global media and broadcast strategy to bring the Doha 2025 experience to millions of fans worldwide.

With the world watching and the final preparations underway, Doha is ready to deliver a ping pong spectacle like no other. The ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals 2025 is not just a tournament—it’s a celebration of the sport’s finest talent, played on one of the grandest stages. As the final 100-day countdown begins, the world of table tennis turns its eyes to Qatar for what promises to be an unforgettable championship.
